Men (Teams of four)

All team members must be bona-fida competitors in the Easter Athletics Festival or have actively officiated in the event. All team members to drink one pint of beer in a re= lay. Upon completion of drinking the pint, the empty glass should be upturned on= to the top of the head before the next drinker can start. Judges will penalise excessive spillage.

The rules below have be= en designed to try and make it a fair and enjoyable competition for all.<= /o:p>

Round = one:

This round will be timed – maximum of four teams per h= eat. Heats will be drawn at random. The fastest twelve teams – will be inv= ited into the knockout phase regardless of finishing position in their heat R= 11; and seeded one to twelve based on their time in the first round. These form= the basis of the draw for the remainder of the competition. Note seeds one and = two will only meet in the final.

Round = two - knockout phase:

Heat one – 1, 8, 12,

Heat two – 4, 5, 9,

Heat three – 3, 6, 10,

Heat four – 2, 7, 11,

There = will be three teams per heat for the last 12. All heats will be timed – th= e winner in each heat plus the two fastest losers qualifies for the semi finals.

Semi f= inals:

Semi final one:

Winners of Heat one, winner of heat two and the second faste= st losers

Semi final two:

Winners of Heat three, winner of Heat four and fastest loser= s

Final:=

Winners of SF1 vs winners of SF2 vs fastest losers in semi f= inal

If the= re are less than 12 teams, then the first round will be used to reduce the number = of teams to the fastest 6 team before seeding. The last six will then compete = in heats of two:

Heat one:

1 vs 4 vs 6

Heat two:

2 vs 3 vs 5

Final:=

Winners of SF1 vs winners of SF2 vs fastest losers in semi f= inal

All races will be timed and these times will be used to help= the referee to determine the winner in the event of any close finishes.

The referee’s decision is final!

Women (T= eams of four)

All te= am members must be bona-fida competitors in the Easter Athletics Festival or h= ave actively officiated in the event.

All te= am members to drink one pint of beer in a relay. Upon completion of drinking t= he pint, the empty glass should be upturned onto the top of the head before the next drinker can start. Judges will penalise excessive spillage.

First = round will be timed – three or four teams per heat. The fastest four teams – regardless of their position in the heat will be invited to compete= in the semi finals. Teams will be seeded based on times on the first round.

All races will be timed and these times will be used to help= the referee to determine the winner in the event of any close finishes.

The entry = fee is £4 per team and entries close at 8 pm on Easter Sunday evening.
